The crescent visibility map below for Jumada Al-Ula 1437 shows that moon will be born on 8 February 2016 at 14:39 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK/Morocco region on that date. However, on 9 February 2016 the moon will be easily visible in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Jumada Al-Ula is most likely to start from 10 February 2016.

Not seen after sunset: On 09 Feb 2016, ICOUK member Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar from Bolton City in the Lancashire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "Crescent was not seen due to heavy dark clouds on western horizon.".


Leicester

Seen after sunset: On 09 Feb 2016, ICOUK member Mr Farsan Mansoor from Leicester City in the Leicestershire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Farsan Mansoor commented: "I haven seen the moon with my friends Br. Rishard Alhamduliiah (we both seen) - photos taken by mobile phone.".


York

Not seen after sunset: On 09 Feb 2016, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy, hence the moon was not sighted from York.".

Seen after sunset: On 09 Feb 2016, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Seen easily at around 6:30pm [Saudi] local time for about 25minutes. See pictures [below]".

Seen after sunset: On 10 Feb 2016, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "The moon was seen very high and remained a long time above the horizon today. Many others also saw it very easily in the UK too.".


Announcement for start of Jumada Al-Ula 1437 AH

The Hilal of Jumada Al-Ula 1437 was sighted in the UK and in Morocco on Tuesday 9th February 2016 (29th Rabi-ul Thani 1437 AH). We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the UK Ulama have decided that the month of Rabi-ul Thani 1437 AH will have 29-days and the month of Jumada Al-Ula 1437 AH will start from Wednesday 10th February 2016, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
