Not seen after sunset: On 01 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Ms Fatema Mulla from Batley City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.


Croydon (Pollards Hill)

Not seen after sunset: On 01 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon (Pollards Hill) City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "The 2 of us attempted observation with the naked eye in Pollards Hill (Norbury). The western horizon was totally cloudy".


Luton

Not seen after sunset: On 01 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Dr Mamnunur Rahman Khan from Luton City in the Bedfordshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Dr Mamnunur Rahman Khan commented: "Heavy rain conditions, absolutely no chance of visibility.".

Not seen after sunset: On 01 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York this evening, so unable to see even the sunset, let alone a 17 hrs old moon".

Not seen after sunset: On 01 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "The sky was clear generally. However near to the horizon where sunset took place there were a few clouds. No crescent could be seen by naked eye or by binoculars celestron skymaster 15x70".

Seen after sunset: On 02 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Sunset 17:58 local time Abha. Crescent moon for Muharram 1438 seen some 10 to 15 [mins] after sunset. Sky was clear. The crescent remain for around 45 min. [Report Verified via Skype - see YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXl7j63gh4M - Editor]".


Announcement for start of Muharram 1438 AH

On Saturday 1st October 2016 (29th Dhul Hijjah 1437 AH) the Hilal of Muharram 1438 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the UK Ulama have decided that the month of Dhul Hijjah 1437 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Muharram 1438 AH will start from Monday 3rd October 2016, making Ashura (10 Muharram) to fall on Wednesday 12th October 2016, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia may announce the Muharram hilal on their SPA www.spa.gov.sa website.
