The crescent visibility map below for Dhul Hijjah 1438 shows that moon will be born on 21 August 2017 at 18:30 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible to the naked-eye anywhere in the UK/Morocco region on that date. However, on 22 August 2017 it will be easily visible in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Dhul Hijjah is most likely to start from 23 August 2017 (so Eid-ul Adha is likely to be on Friday 1 September 2017), InshaAllah. Not seen after sunset: On 22 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar from Bolton City in the Lancashire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "Sky was fully covered with thick clouds. Crescent not seen".

Not seen after sunset: On 22 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Mr Yusuf Patel from Darlaston, Wednesbury City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.


Dewsbury

Not seen after sunset: On 22 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Dewsbury City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "It was totally cloudy all day. We failed to see the hilal".

Not seen after sunset: On 22 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Mr Mohammad Baig from Slough City in the Berkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Mohammad Baig commented: "Unfortunately the western horizon was cloudy".

Not seen after sunset: On 22 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from Makkah City in the Makkah Province County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "On Wednesday 22 August 2017, I was in Makkah and had arranged to join the Makkah Hilal Committee observation site in Al-Shumasi about 30 km outside Masjid ul Haram. Unfortunately, due to travel restrictions on the pilgrims, I was unable to join the committee. However, they did inform me of their negative sighting. It was totally cloudy in Masjid ul Haram area in addition to high light pollution, so negative sighting too".

Not seen after sunset: On 23 Aug 2017, ICOUK member Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed from Brighton City in the East Sussex County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed commented: "Try to sight the moon but couldn't see as clouds covered most part of the sky. It was forecast to be well visible today ".


Announcement for start of Dhul Hijjah 1438 AH

On Tuesday 22nd August 2017 (29th Dhul Qa'dah 1438 AH) the Hilal of Dhul Hijjah 1438 was not sighted in the UK, but it was sighted in Morocco region. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore,the month of Dhul Qa'dah 1438 AH will have 29-days and the month of Dhul Hijjah 1438 AH will start from Wednesday 23rd August 2017 (making Eid-ul Adha to be on Friday 1 September 2017), Insha-Allah.
