Not seen after sunset: On 07 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from Leeds City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "I was travelling in Leeds today and it was totally cloudy, so was the whole Yorkshire region".

Not seen after sunset: On 07 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou from Dakhla City in the Region De Oued Eddahab County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou commented: "The vision of the crescent was negative".

Not seen after sunset: On 07 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Makkah City in the Makkah County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Clear sky in Makkah but not seen as sunset moon set lag [was too] small and moon age was too young".

Mr Juned Patel commented: "The sky was totally covered with clouds".

Dr Feras Tuma commented: "It was very bad weather lots of cloud and rain, unable to see the crescent".


London (Beckton Alps)

Not seen after sunset: On 08 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Mr Imad Ahmed from London (Beckton Alps) City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Imad Ahmed commented: "Unfortunately, it was totally cloudy in our location, where three of us went together to climb a hill in East London [Beckton Alps]. It is a good location, but unfortunately, it was too cloudy to see anything".

Not seen after sunset: On 08 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy and rainy in York today and so was many other places in the UK according to the UK Meteorological Office weather forecast. However, we have successfully sighted the crescent moon in the past when the cloud was moving with the wind, so it is worth making a sighting attempt even if it’s cloudy".

Seen after sunset: On 08 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou from Dakhla City in the Dakhla County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou commented: "It was a wonderful sight, seeing the Crescent of Rabi-2 in the sky of Dakhla [taken with Canon 1300D Camera, 300mm lens]".


Eidhamoudhiya

Seen after sunset: On 08 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Eidhamoudhiya City in the Ouarzazate Province County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "Hilal sighted in an area Eidhamoudhiya near Kasbah [Ouarzazate] in Morocco at about 6:52 pm from the top of a mountain. We set off making our way to the top about 40 minutes before sunset. The group of we sighted the hilal easily with the naked eye. Shahid Sadiq from New Malden and Javed Ahmed from Wimbledon join me with some of the young locals to attempt this observation. Brother Javed could not make it to the top. Could not send this report earlier because of no internet connection [sent Sun 9/12/2018 - Admin]".

Seen after sunset: On 08 Dec 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Jeddah City in the Jeddah Province County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "We were blessed to see this 1st Crescent moon (hilal) of the Rabee3 uthani 1440 Islamic month by naked eye. Even though the moon's age was 30+ hours, it took over 20 mins after sunset to locate it by the naked eye. The sky was clear but there was haze and pollution mist lower on the horizon [sent Sun 9/12/2018 - Admin]".


Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Thani 1440 AH

On Friday 7th December 2018 (29th Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Thani 1440 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rabi-ul Thani 1440 AH will start from Sunday 9th December 2018, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
