Not seen after sunset: On 01 Apr 2022, ICOUK member Mr Juned Patel from Bolton City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars or Telescope.

Mr Juned Patel commented: "I, Juned Patel, was at the spot of observation since 16:00 to align my telescope which I managed to do it having gaps in clouds. However, after the sunset, the below horizon was covered with dense clouds and I could neither see the sunset nor spotted the moon. We were a total of 7 of us".

The horizon only cleared up at around 20:45 which allowed us to photograph the hilaal. [Note: the Altitude of the 36 hrs old moon at 20:45 BST was 3.3 deg - Admin]".

Seen after sunset: On 02 Apr 2022, ICOUK member Maulana Hidayatullah Patel from Tralee City in the Kerry County (Ireland) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Seen after sunset: On 02 Apr 2022, ICOUK member Eng Riaz Anjam from St Saviour City in the Channel Islands County (Jersey) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Seen after sunset: On 02 Apr 2022, ICOUK member Prof Hassan Talibi from Skoura City in the Ouarzazate County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "اللهم أهل علينا هلال رمضان باليمن والإيمان. الصورة هذه المرة من سكورة / Translation: Oh Allah, let us see the Hilal of Ramadan in peace and faith. This time the image is from Skoura. [Submitted on 4/4/2022 - Admin]".


Announcement for start of Ramadan 1443 AH

On Friday 1st April 2022 (29th Shaban 1443 AH) the Hilal of Ramadan 1443 was not sighted in the UK to Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Advice: As per the agreed ICOUK criteria, the month of Shaban 1443 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Ramadan 1443 AH will start from Sunday 3rd April 2022 (1st Tarawih from the night of Saturday 2nd April 2022), InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia normally announce the start of Ramadan on their SPA (www.spa.gov.sa) website.
