Not seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: “It was totally cloudy in York today (8/11/2018), but I still went to the same place where I saw the sunset in clear sky a few days earlier (on 31/10/2018). If it was clear today, I would have had a good chance to see the moon, if it was possible to do so by the human eye”.


Croydon

Not seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye and/or Binoculars.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: “The two of us [I and Muhammad Irfan from Iqra Tv] attempted to sight the crescent after sunset. We arrived at the vantage point but could not locate the exact location of the setting of the sun as the sun disappeared behind the clouds at least half an hour before sunset”.

Mr Modoris Ali commented: “I couldn't see the moon, the skies were partially cloudy”.


Slough

Not seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Mohammad Baig from Slough City in the Uk County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Mohammad Baig commented: “We knew the crescent would be low on the horizon and it was the lower horizon in Slough that was most cloudy. No luck today”.

Not seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Makbul Jaffer from Mill Hill City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Makbul Jaffer commented: “Horizon was cloudy”.

Not seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Younes Foster from Ashbourne City in the Derbyshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Asir County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and/or Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: “First found Jupiter at 5.40pm by binoculars. Then to the right of Jupiter and below saw crescent first by binoculars and at 6.00pm local time, I was able to see the crescent moon for Rabiul Awwal  1440 by naked eye until it disappeared behind the mountain where earlier (5.35pm) the sunset took place. Allaahumma Ahillahu alayna bilyumni wal-iman wassalaamati wal Islam Rabbi wa RabbukalAllah.   May the blessed month of Rabiulawwal bring us peace and blessings for us all. Benslimane

Seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Prof Hassan Talibi from Benslimane City in the Casablanca-Settat County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: “رصد الهلال في مناطق كثيرة في المغرب  وعليه فقد ثبت ثبوتا شرعيا 
Translation: The sighting of the crescent has been reported from many areas in Morocco and therefore the start of the new month is proven to be [Islamically] legitimate”.


Nador

Seen after sunset: On 08 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Abdessamad Doukkane from Nador City in the Oriental County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Abdessamad Doukkane commented: “The association Initiative Moroccan for Science and Thought participated in the investigation of the Crescent with the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Directorate in Nador”.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: “The three of us (i.e.  Aqaele Peeroo, Younus Foster and I)  tried very hard for almost one hour but still could not sight the Hilal due to heavy clouds”.

Not seen after sunset: On 09 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Younes Foster from York (Towthorpe) City in the Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Younes Foster commented: “Complete cloud cover”.


London

Not seen after sunset: On 09 November 2018, ICOUK member Mr Imad Ahmed from London City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Imad Ahmed commented: “I went to see the second day of sighting to see if the crescent of Rabi al Awwal is possible to see. I picked am excellent location with a clear view of the horizon - Beckton, in East London. but it was too overcast to see. I could barely see the sunset or any stars, or planets, let alone the moon”.


Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH

On Thursday 8th November 2018 (29th Safar 1440 AH) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry by fax.

Therefore, the month of Safar 1440 AH will have 29-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH will start from Friday 9th November 2018, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they normally follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
