Not seen after sunset: On 20 Oct 2017, ICOUK member Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed from Crawley City in the West Sussex County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed commented: "Sky was thick and moving cloud, my self and Br Imran could not seen the moon around 40 minutes of observation After sunset".


Croydon

Not seen after sunset: On 20 Oct 2017, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "The 3 of us attempted to sight the crescent from the rooftop if Croydon Masjid from the higher elevated platform where stands the enigmatic minaret. We were the very powerful binoculars. We did not see the Hilal with the naked eye. The observers include Mufti Yusuf Danka, Ustadh Abdul Mukith and myself, Sulaiman Gani".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York, hilal not seen".

Not seen after sunset: On 20 Oct 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Not seen due to low heavy clouds at and above sunset position. By Saudi UQ calendar its the 30th of Muharram today so tomorrow will be [their] 1st".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy and raining in York today so hilal not seen".

Seen after sunset: On 21 Oct 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Easily seen by the naked eye. The crescent was visible for over 1hr".


Announcement for start of Safar 1439 AH

On Friday 20th October 2017 (29th Muharram 1439 AH) the Hilal of Safar 1439 was not sighted in the UK, but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Muharram 1439 AH will have 29-days and the month of Safar 1439 AH will start from Saturday 21st October 2017, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
