The crescent visibility map below for Rabi-ul Awwal 1443 shows that the moon will be born on 6 October 2021 at 11:05 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco region (or anywhere in most of the world) on that date. However, on 7 October 2021 the moon will be easily visible in Morocco and most other countries of the world. Hence, the month of Rabi-ul Awwal is most likely to start from 8 October 2021, InShaAllah.

Mr Owain Omer Williams commented: "No sighting here in Caerphilly, Wales. Too much thick cloud cover right over the area of sky where we expected to see the new crescent. There were clear patches of sky though, so we stayed as long as possible in case the cloud dispersed. Venus was visible for most of the time we were observing, but even that became obscured by cloud as we were leaving".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "An astronomer colleague advised me that he was going to YAS observatory today (8/10/2021) so I decided to join him before sunset and although the sun set behind some trees on the right, there was a clear gap to the western horizon to the left of sunset. We were able to spot Venus soon after sunset at 18:28 hrs BST and the moon was seen by binoculars (20x80) at 18:38 hr BST. It was seen about 10 mins later by naked eye before in went behind a thick bank of dark clouds. I was pleased to see the moon from the YAS observatory after nearly two years of lockdown, Alhamdulillah. [See YouTube and/or Facebook]".
Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Awwal 1443 AH
On Thursday 7th October 2021 (29th Safar 1443 AH) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Awwal 1443 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, (as per the agreed criteria) the month of Safar 1443 AH will have 29-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1443 AH will start from Friday 8th October 2021, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
