Mr Shakil Qureshi commented: "I arrived at the location before sunset and stayed until after moonset hoping that there would be a break in the clouds but unfortunately, it wasn't so. The weather was terrible it was constant rain and 100% cloud cover. In Sha Allah I will see the Hilal next month".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York today (3/3/2022) all and after sunset too, so the 24 hrs old Shaban 1443 Hilal was not seen at all (HMNAO/Code C). The weather forecast for most of the UK was also totally cloudy/raining, although the South of the UK (Brighton to Cornwall) had a better chance of a challenging sighing (HMNAO/Code B). However, we have not received any positive sighting report so far. Better luck tomorrow, InshaAllah".

The first photo was taken at 18.17 after sunset was not hopeful as cloud coverage like yesterday. However, patience and intermittent gaps and the hilal was visible. Taken with iphone12 mini".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "Once again, it was totally cloudy in York today (4/3/2022), but there was a small hope of a cloud break as the wind was moving it towards the position of the moon after sunset, but the cloud break closed up so the moon was not seen. However, other places in the UK have seen it, Alhamdulillah".


Announcement for start of Shaban 1443 AH

On Thursday 3rd March 2022 (29th Rajab 1443 AH) the Hilal of Shaban 1443 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Rajab 1443 AH will have 29-days and the month of Shaban 1443 AH will start from Friday 4th March 2022, making 15th Shaban be on Friday 18th March 2022 (i.e. from the night of Thursday 17th March), InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
