Not seen after sunset: On 08 May 2024, ICOUK member Mr Motosir Ali from Cardiff City in the Wales County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Motosir Ali commented: "Moon was not visible and is was mainly cloudy.".

Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I was walking to the local Mosque for the Maghrib prayer and I couldn't see the moon as it was totally cloudy, even after the Maghrib prayer".

Mr Monwar Hussain commented: "I have looked very closely in all direction just to be sure as I’ve never looked for the Hilal before. Could not sight the new moon in any direction at all".

Mr Mohsin Ali commented: "We attempted to sight the moon at Wanstead Flats, but it was not visible due to being low on the horizon and potentially obscured behind a layer of cloud on the horizon. There were approximately 10 people present, we stayed until around 21:20 BST".


Reading

Not seen after sunset: On 08 May 2024, ICOUK member Mr Faruq Bilbe from Reading City in the Berkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Mr Faruq Bilbe commented: "There was a break in the cloud cover, but it remained above the location of the moon as far as I was able to establish".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was fairly sunny in York today (8/5/2024) a few hours before sunset, but it became cloudy during sunset, so the moon was not seen. It was not expected to be seen by the naked eye even if it was clear as it was very close to the sun. We have not received any sighting reports from other places in the UK either".

Mr Faruq Bilbe commented: "It wasn’t even playing hard to find tonight. About 15 mins after sunset, once I had checked the bearing and height, the Hilal appeared in my binoculars. Before I could get my phone in position to take a photo through the binoculars, I could see it without them".

Mr Abdul Karim commented: "I looked just after Maghrib, but unfortunately, partial clouds in the direction of the moon prevented sighting. I waited longer and the crescent appeared in the sky once it started to become darker. It was an excellent clear view from my loft room".

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "هلال ذي القعدة 1445هـ . اللهم أهله بالنصر والتأييد والأمن والأمان... رغم الأفق المسدود فهناك شعاع أمل / Translation: Crescent moon fo Dhul Qa'dah 1445 AH. May Allah grant us success, support, security and faith... Despite the cloudy horizon, there was a gap to see it".


Announcement for start of Dhul Qa'dah 1445 AH

On Wednesday, 8th May 2024 (29th Shawwal 1445 AH), the Hilal of Dhul Qa'dah 1445 was not sighted in the UK (Local), according to the rules of Shariah. Therefore, Shawwal 1445 AH will complete 30 days, and the month of Dhul Qa'dah 1445 AH will start on Friday, 10th May 2024, InShaAllah.
