Dr Najeeb Chaudhry commented: "Due to the cloudy sky, the moon was not sighted".

Mr Atiq Hussain commented: "No crescent was seen today. The observation was from a good spotting location on a hill with clear views of the western horizon".

Not seen after sunset: On 29 Mar 2025, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York (New Earswick) City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York today (29/3/2025) from before sunset, so the moon was not seen. Technically, it was not possible to be seen even if the skies were clear since we had seen the Partial Solar Eclipse earlier in the day, where we watched the New Moon Conjunction with our protected eyes. It is a scientific fact that the crescent moon cannot be seen after sunset on the day of a solar eclipse (in the same region or to the east). Any foreign moon sighting claims from the Middle East are totally unreliable and should be rejected as a mistake (or a fabrication)".

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "We were approximately 20-25 people at our Rivington location. The sky was clear. All present were able to sight the crescent with the naked eye".

Mr Atiq Hussain commented: "The new crescent was spotted today in Stockton on Tees from Maze Park at the Tees barrage on a hill close to the A19. This was spotted by the naked eye after over 20 minutes of searching. The weather was partly cloudy with some cloud breaks. The moon's altitude was between 12 and 13 degrees at the time of the photos".

The moon was at a much higher altitude than normal as a payback of low altitude moons from the UK winter season (during the Major Lunar Standstills)".

Mr Hatim El-Harrak commented: "Praise be to Allah, the crescent moon of Shawwal was sighted in Tangier on Sunday evening, the last day of Ramadan 1446, corresponding to 30 March 2025".


Announcement for start of Shawwal 1446 AH

On Saturday, 29th March 2025 (29th Ramadan 1446 AH), the Hilal of Shawwal 1446 was not sighted in the UK (Local), according to the rules of Shariah. Therefore, Ramadan 1446 AH will complete 30 days, and the month of Shawwal 1446 AH will start on Monday, 31st March 2025, InShaAllah.
