Not seen after sunset: On 31 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from London City in the Surrey County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "I commenced my observation from about 4:50pm [from Norbury]. The Western Horizon was partly cloudy. The 2 of us could not see the Hilal with the naked eye.".


Surbiton

Not seen after sunset: On 31 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Mr Javed Rafiq from Surbiton City in the Surrey County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.


York

Not seen after sunset: On 31 Oct 2016, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was not possible to see the hilal by naked eye from York".


Announcement for start of Safar 1438 AH

On Monday 31st October 2016 (29th Muharram 1438 AH) the Hilal of Safar 1438 was not sighted in the UK, but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Muharram 1438 AH will have 29-days and the month of Safar 1438 AH will start from Tuesday 1st November 2016, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
