The crescent visibility map below for Safar 1443 shows that the moon will be born on 7 September 2021 at 00:52 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco region on that date. However, on 8 September 2021 the moon will be easily visible in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Safar is most likely to start from 9 September 2021, InShaAllah.

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "We were a group of 20 plus people trying to sight the crescent. The sky was clear however the Western horizon was hazy. The crescent was not seen from Rivington in Bolton".

Maulana Abdullah Ahmed commented: "I was with my family and tried to see the Hilal of Safar 1443AH from the beach at Traeth Dinas Dinlle, North-West Wales and we could NOT see it. We could see Venus by the naked eye but the crescent was not seen by the naked-eye. The sky was clear with very few small scattered clouds".

Ms Shemanara Haq commented: "Negative sighting until moonset time from Saltburn by the Sea using naked eye. Sunset 7.40 pm and moonset 8.20 pm. Photos were taken with iPhone 12 mini at 7.18 pm and also at 8.17 pm. Binoculars were also used but nothing was seen. The sky was clear but hazy. Sighting with one non-Muslim lady".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was partly cloudy and hazy in York today (8/9/2021) after sunset, but I managed to see the Safar 1443 Hilal with a pair of binoculars (20x80) quite easily at 8:07 pm BST but it soon went down behind a patch of dark clouds above the horizon (see photos) and so I was unable to see it with the naked eye (as I wear glasses)".

Not seen after sunset: On 07 Oct 2021, ICOUK member Maulana Abdullah Ahmed from Dewsbury (Moorend) City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.

Maulana Abdullah Ahmed commented: "As I was teaching, my son Hafiz Muhammad Daanyaal went and tried to see the Hilal from Scarr End Lane, Dewsbury and he could not see it, as it was cloudy with only a small clear break through the clouds".


Announcement for start of Safar 1443 AH

On Tuesday 7th September 2021 (29th Muharram 1443 AH) the Hilal of Safar 1443 was not sighted in the UK to Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Muharram 1443 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Safar 1443 AH will start from Thursday 9th September 2021, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
