Mr Tahir Mahmood commented: "An effort was made to sight hilal but due to the clouds, it was unsuccessful".

Maulana Abdullah Ahmed commented: "I and my wife tried to see the Hilal from Scarr End Lane, Dewsbury, but it was very cloudy next to the horizon and clear on top, and so we had a Negative sighting in Dewsbury".

Ms Rahma Alfarsy commented: "Although there seemed to be a chance of spotting the crescent prior to sunset, the clouds came storming in due to strong winds and covered the spot in the sky where the hilal could have been seen".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was cloudy in York today (5/12/2021) but there were clear patches near the sunset position. However, the altitude of the moon was very low on the horizon at sunset (3°) and it was also behind a dark patch of clouds, hence it was not seen. We hope it will be seen tomorrow (6/12/2021) in the UK (weather permitting), InshaAllah".

Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou commented: "The vision was clear and easy due to the clear weather and the availability of suitable conditions for vision, so that the month of Rabi al-Thani in Morocco completed only 29 days".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "We were on our way back from Umra and we stopped at a city called AlQunfudha some 350 km south of Jeddah along the Red Sea. We saw the crescent moon with the naked eye easily along with the planet Venus. Local Sunset was 17.37 pm and we started to see the crescent moon at around 6 pm local time".

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "I led the Maghrib Salah at Purley Masjid. After sunnah, I made my way to Riddlesdown . It was cloudy and light rain. The rain stopped. The clouds moved. I was overjoyed to see the crescent moon at first between the clouds. I recited the dua. It was streamed live. The clouds moved even further. It was so clear and so beautiful".

Maulana Abdullah Ahmed commented: "I, my son Muhammad Daanyaal and my daughters saw the Hilal from Scarr End Lane, Dewsbury. It was cloudy next to the horizon and Alhamdulillah it opened a bit at 16:13 pm, from where we could see the Hilal of Jumadal Oola 1443AH".

Ms Shemanara Haq commented: "Hilal observation at approx 3.45 pm until moonset with naked eyes at new location Mandale Meadows, Middlesbrough. Sunset time 3.41 pm and moonset time 5.31 pm. Observation with my 6-year-old son, who also saw hilal. Photos were taken with iPhone 12 mini. The first photo was just before sunset at 3.33 pm and the second photo was taken at 4.15 pm".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was cloudy forecast in York today (6/12/2021) but as usual, I went to my sighting location and there was a clear gap on the left of sunset position where the crescent moon appeared soon after sunset (after I prayed Maghrib onsite) at 15:59 PM GMT, Alhamdulillah. The Venus star was also seen clearly on the top-left side of the moon, too".

Announcement for start of Jumada Al-Ula 1443 AH

On Sunday 5th December 2021 (29th Rabi-ul Thani 1443 AH) the Hilal of Jumada Al-Ula 1443 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, (as per agreed criteria) the month of Rabi-ul Thani 1443 AH will have 29-days and the month of Jumada Al-Ula 1443 AH will start from Monday 6th December 2021, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
