Not seen after sunset: On 26 Sep 2022, ICOUK member Mr Tahir Mahmood from Bristol City in the Bristol County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Tahir Mahmood commented: "The field of view was obstructed by dense clouds. No crescent [moon] was observed".

Mr Faruq Bilbe commented: "Tonight I stayed further back from the cliff than I normally would in order to take a higher viewpoint as recommended. There were some breaks in the low level cloud see photo 1 (sunset c 19:03) and with strong winds I was hopeful. Unfortunately the cloud cover consolidated at the lower level see photo 2 (moon set c 19:28)".

Seen after sunset: On 27 Sep 2022, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York (Elvington) City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Binoculars.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy most of York (Elvington Airfield) today (27/9/2022) but fortunately, there was a clear patch between two banks of dark clouds at sunset so the moon was seen by the two of us (myself, Qamar Uddin and Dr Bashir Dudo) just before it set, Alhamdulillah. We saw it with binoculars at 19:19 hrs (at 0.5° alt) and quickly took a photo with a Nikon Coolpix P600 camera before we lost it in the dark bank of clouds sitting on the horizon".

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "هلال ربيع الأول 1444 أدخله الله علينا باليمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام والرحمة والغيث إنه على ذلك قدير وبالاستجابة جدير. فرحة عارمة لأني لم أظفر به منذ شهور في ظهور الأول بسبب الظروف الجوية / Translation: The crescent of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1444, may Allah bring it to us with peace, faith, safety, Islam, mercy and rain, for He is capable of that and worthy of a response. I am so happy that I haven't had it for months on my profile due to the [cloudy] weather".

Seen after sunset: On 27 Sep 2022, ICOUK member Mr Hatim El-Harrak from Tangier City in the Tangier-Tetouan Al-Hoceima County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Hatim El-Harrak commented: "In the name of of Allah the Merciful . Morocco today I monitored the crescent and it was seen with the naked eye and documented it, and the first month of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1444 is on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, as on the evening of Monday, September 26, 2022 the crescent was not seen in all regions of Morocco".


Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Awwal 1444 AH

On Monday 26th September 2022 (29th Safar 1444 AH in UK and MA) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Awwal 1444 was not sighted in the UK to Morocco (MA) Region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the start of the month based on the Regional (UK – MA) and Local (UK-only) Moon Sighting criteria are given below.

Regional (UK - MA): the month of Safar 1444 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1444 AH will start from Wednesday 28th September 2022, InShaAllah.

Local (UK-only): the month of Safar 1444 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1444 AH will start from Wednesday 28th September 2022, InShaAllah.
