The crescent visibility map below for Shawwal 1445 (RHS) shows that the moon will be born on 8 April 2024 at 18:21 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco (MA) region on that date. However, on 9 April 2024, the moon may be easily seen in the UK and in most parts of the world. Hence, the month of Shawwal is most likely to start on 10 April 2024, InShaAllah. Birmingham

Seen after sunset: On 09 Apr 2024, ICOUK member Mr Umar Hussain from Birmingham City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.

Mr Umar Hussain commented: "AlhamdhuLillah, the moon was seen by 70 people in Yardley in Birmingham. Seen by binocs and unaided eye".


Bolton

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "We were about 40-50 people of all ages, gathered at our usual moon sighting place in Rivington. The western horizon was partially cloudy but later cleared up. The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal was sighted by everyone present with naked eyes".

Mr Shakil Qureshi commented: "We were a party of 6 people, of mixed experience. Half of the group were first-timers and the other half, including myself were experienced sighters. The 4 of the 6 people wore glasses. We arrived before sunset and had to wait until approximately 25 minutes after sunset before the Hilal became visible. It was very thin and difficult to see. Mr Motosir Ali commented: "I, Khirul Ali testify that I have observed the crescent moon and it was a clear sky, first with the naked eye and then with the binoculars الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ".

Sunset 7:58 PM and moonset 9:29 PM. Initially complete cloud cover and then break opened, showing visible moon. First photo taken 10 mins before sunset and following photos after sunset using iPhone 15".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was raining all day in York today (9/4/2024) until about 6 pm then it started to clear up, Alhamdulillah. I had set up my computerised telescope to help find the moon, but about 35 mins after sunset, the four of us (I, Shaykh Bashir, Br Mamnun & Br Tanvir from London) were able to see the very thin crescent moon with our naked eyes. We read the masnun duaa and praised Allah for making it possible for us to see the 24 hours old moon, high up in the sky. Many people throughout the UK have also seen it (from Scotland to the Southeast), Alhamdulillah".

Therefore, the month of Ramadan 1445 AH will have 29 days and the month of Shawwal 1445 AH will start on Wednesday, 10th April 2024, InShaAllah.
